The SHE Officer will be responsible for the safety, health, and environmental scope within the business. This role ensures that the workplace is safe, compliant with legal requirements, and conducive for our employees and the surrounding community. The SHE officer coordinates the implementation and maintenance of SHE management programs, ensuring that the business meets its objectives in these areas.

Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with relevant safety, health, and environmental legislation (e.g. DOSH; EMCA etc)
Maintaining the SHE Legal Register
Ensure that all necessary SHE-related licenses are obtained and maintained within our internal legal register
ISO Certification
Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems by coordinating internal activities, maintaining required documentation, and assisting in audit preparation and follow-up actions to achieve and sustain certification
Development of Safety Manuals and SOPs
Lead the development and review of safety manuals, procedures, and standard operating procedures to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, ISO standards, and operational best practices
Gap Analysis on Safety Roadmap
Conduct quarterly gap analysis on the safety roadmap to identify areas where the current safety programs may be lacking or non-compliant, and propose corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements
Audit & Compliance
Assist in the preparation for SHE audits and ensure that necessary documentation is in place. Support internal audits and ensure that the plant is properly resourced with trained internal auditors for safety-related audits
Risk Assessment & Inspections
Conduct risk assessments and regular safety inspections within the plant. Ensure preventive measures are implemented and documented
Chemical Safety
Ensure that MSDS forms are received, stored and accessible for all consumables used internally, that appropriate PPE is available and used, and that all relevant staff are trained on the safe handling and use of chemicals.
PPE Management and Coordination:
Ensure timely and periodic ordering, issuance, and replenishment of appropriate PPE for all staff, in line with identified risks and job-specific requirements. Maintain and regularly update the internal PPE matrix to reflect evolving roles, hazards, and equipment needs
Incident Management
Investigate accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences, ensuring proper documentation and root cause analysis. Provide support for incident reporting and corrective actions, and share monthly reports on the status of near misses
Environmental Monitoring
Monitor and assess workplace hazards and exposure to harmful chemicals, and make recommendations for improvement
Waste Management
Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure proper segregation of wastes in line with environmental regulations, monitor waste segregation practices from the assembly lines and other functional areas, and ensure that waste is categorized, stored, and disposed safely to minimize environmental impact
Emergency Preparedness
Coordinate emergency response activities, including drills and ensuring first aid and fire marshals' team readiness. Ensure that all fire extinguishers and safety equipment are inspected periodically/as per the legal requirements/set standards
Permit-to-Work System
Oversee the "permit-to-work" system to ensure compliance with company standards and legal requirements
SHE Communication
Manage SHE communication plans, including safety boards, safety briefings, and toolbox talks. Ensure that SHE information is clearly communicated across the business
Signage
Oversee the installation and maintenance of clear, effective safety and environmental signage across the site, ensuring that all required health, safety, and hazard warnings are prominently displayed and easily understood by all employees and visitors
Training & Development
Work closely with HR to develop and execute SHE training plans, including fire safety, first aid, OSH Committee etc.
Monthly Reporting
Prepare and submit detailed monthly reports on the status of SHE initiatives, incidents, audits, and compliance, providing updates to management on key performance indicators and areas requiring attention
General Duties
Perform any other SHE-related duties assigned by your line manager

Job Specifications:
Qualifications and Experience required
Bachelor of science degree in Environmental Science; OSH; Engineering or any other related degree
NEBOSH Certificate
First Aid, Fire Safety and Risk Assessment Training
ISO 45001 and 14001 Lead Auditor Training
Must have at least five (5) years' proven working experience in SHE position
