The Sourcing Associate will report to the Sourcing Manager directly and to the Head of Market Linkage indirectly. S/he will be responsible for execution of our strategy to link farmers to buyers in the formal and informal markets. We are looking for someone who is entrepreneurial, likes to get their boots muddy, thrives on creating order from chaos, and is motivated to join an early stage start-up company with huge potential for growth.
About You
Diploma in agribusiness, agricultural economics, entrepreneurship or similar field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Two years of experience as a sales agent or a loan officer in rural markets targeting smallholder farmers in Kenya strongly preferred
Fluent in English, Swahili and local language of assigned region

Responsibilities
Prepare and share harvest schedules in conjunction with the Tulaabingwas
Where the Tulaabingwa is not able to fill the truck, the SA will coordinate with the HC to source from alternate farmers
Recruit, train, manage and deploy Harvest Coordinators and provide support to them to ensure timely and efficient harvests.
Prepare and share harvest budgets one week by Friday of each week advance
Ensure all Harvest Coordinators are adequality facilitated with packaging materials and any other resources required to execute the harvests
Manage logistics providers during the harvest process
Provide regular updates to the Sourcing Manager on the progress of harvests and issues arising
Ensure Harvest Coordinators achieve 100% adherence to preestablished harvest standards, operating procedures and schedules
Generate demand for Market Linkage services among farmers through multiple channels, including but not limited to baraza, agricultural shows, farmer field days, etc.
Provide support by collecting, relaying and analyzing relevant information such as prevailing farm gate prices, farm level supply dynamics, weather conditions and produce availability
Consistently train Harvest Coordinators on issues such as quality control, price negotiations, logistics, farmer aggregation, farm visits and sampling in collaboration with the Tulaabingwas
Achieve or exceed all targets for farmer recruitment for Market Linkage services, produce quality and customer satisfaction
Collaborate across the company to ensure a seamless user experience from Market Linkage through to inputs, advisory and credit
As required systematically collect farmer feedback – through qualitative and quantitative methods – on market linkage, farm-level results, customer satisfaction, etc.
Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as the laws of Kenya
Contribute to raising the bar across the company in terms of performance, reliability, EQ and grit
Ensure that at least one of the following channels of communication is always open: WhatsApp, email, phone call, or SMS
Perform any other reasonable task assigned by the Sourcing Manager and/or Head of Market Linkage
