Duties and Responsibilities
• To prepare and implement well-structured and progressive coaching programmes ensuring a high quality, enjoyable coaching experience centered on the needs of children. The coaching Programme will link the Academy and the wider community and will aim to provide increased opportunities for children to participate in sports and physical activity.
• To provide the PE teacher with the administrative support necessary for school and competition events.
• To deliver coaching in a range of physical activities alongside teachers within the Academy’s PE curriculum and to have a focus on out-of-school hours learning. • To organize inter-school and intra-school sporting competitions for children.
• To maintain appropriate records and prepare monitoring reports.
• To be a positive role model, creating a supportive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children to participate in sports and physical activity. • To take positive steps to identify and overcome barriers to participation amongst children, prioritizing access and inclusion.
• To carry out duties in accordance with Cornerstone’s PE and other policies, including Child Protection, Notable Event Reporting, health and safety at work.
• To develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships with all staff, including the wider community and sporting organizations.
• To attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related programs, including those pertaining to social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters.
• To supervise and support pupils to ensure their safety and access to learning.
• To establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
• To promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
• To support and uphold the goals and values of Cornerstone Preparatory Academy.
• To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security. To maintain confidentiality and data protection, and to report all concerns to management
. • To be aware of and support diversity and to ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
• To appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
• To attend relevant meetings as required.
• To participate in trainings and other learning activities and performance development as required.
• To assist with the supervision of pupils outside lesson times, including before and after school and during lunchtimes.
• To accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out-of-school activities as required.
• To be fully aware of and understand the duties and responsibilities arising from the Children’s Act 2004. To work together to promote child protection and the safety of children and young people.
• Any other duty as assigned by the management.
*The nature of this position may require the post holder to carry out work outside of normal working hours.
Requirements/Qualifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in sports, recreation or any other related field.
• Experience in fitness, personal training or sports coaching.
• Strong leadership abilities and a positive attitude.
• Solid understanding of all sports rules and regulations.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety on and off the field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Swahili and English.
• Strong interpersonal, administrative and problem-solving skills.
• High energy person who enjoys working with children of all ages.
• Mature Christian with deep grounding in the orthodox tenets of Biblical faith.
Cornerstone Preparatory Academy seeks applications for a sports coach assistant who will assist to plan, deliver and monitor a coordinated Programme of high quality, professional coaching that is progressive and reflective of the needs of children, and supports the aim of increasing participation in PE and school sports by all children.
