Sports Officer

1. A Kenyan Citizenship
2. Bachelor’s Degree in sports science; Sports Management; Physical Education; Leisure and Recreation; Education (Sports Science) or any other relevant and equivalent qualification forms a recognized institution of Higher Learning.
3. A Certificate in Computer Applications.
4. Meet requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Responsibilities

1. Identifying sports, recreation, leisure and health initiatives and overseeing strategic planning and implementation within the sub county
2. Overseeing the implementation of sports policies in the sub county
3. Making and executing work plans for sports in the sub county
4. Increase participation in sports of all kind. Modern and cultural while addressing the issues of health, crime, doping and inclusion.
5. Identifying, training, supporting, developing and managing coaches , referees, team managers and volunteer staff
6. Raising public awareness of health fitness issues and promoting participation in sports particularly among underrepresented groups e.g. women, girls, people with disabilities, the old and the sick.
7. Evaluating and monitoring activities, programs and projects in sports in the sub county
8. Checking venues and managing sports facilities
9. Liaising with clubs and federations / associations to develop sports competitions, coaching and youth development
10. Working in partnership with school initiatives such as ECDE centers, primary and secondary schools and other institutions of learning, sports associations to tap and nurture talents
11. Provide administrative support together with other officers in the directorate as required.
12. Maintaining records and producing written reports on sports at the sub county for use by the directorate of sports
13. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
