Position DescriptionValiant is seeking skilled Linguists to provide interpretation, transcription, and translation services to support ongoing and new operations and mission requirements. Responsibilities: Conduct accurate and consecutive translation, transcription, and interpretation of Swahili into EnglishTranslate various syntax and expressions to include colloquial and slang phrases from English to Swahiliand vice versaWork and travel in austere environmentsProvide advice on the cultural and ethnic significance of statements, conversations, situations, and documentsAccurately scan, research, and analyze foreign language documentsOther related tasks as assigned Position Requirements Must have proficiency in Swahili and English speaking and writing Level 3/3 of Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR)-Native ability preferredExtensive knowledge of Swahili culture with previous work in the region-Native familiarity preferredExperience interpreting and translating Swahili into EnglishAbility to understand the essentials of all speech in standard dialect and vocabulary, rarely requiring the need for paraphrasing or explanationFamiliarity with the local culture and customs with the ability to operate within the local populaceLanguage skills in Kikuyu is desired, but not requiredMust be a citizenClearance Required: Secret
