Scope:
Duties include assisting in the receiving of boats, prepping boats with equipment, commissioning and launching of boats. You will also become proficient in all operations and maintenance of the boats including electrical and mechanical systems and performing boater training with customers prior to clients leaving on their charter. Trial runs are the very important customer orientation lessons that all clients receive before embarking on their boating vacation. Special attention is given to safety and the ability of the customer to handle the vessel. As well as being an expert in operating, maintaining, handling and educating clients, your boating knowledge will be invaluable. We are seeking a strong, enthusiastic, flexible and experienced Technician who is passionate about boating and has solid mechanical and customer service backgrounds. The ability to switch from a mechanical frame of mind to customer service will be a great asset.
Scope of employee's duties/responsibilities in general:
Help with organization of the yacht base
Coming to work on time 8-17 Mon-Sat (one hour is free for lunch), if necessary also on Sundays/holidays and evening hours.
Responding to clients request while on the charter, organizing services on other islands. Staying stand by 2 weeks per month as a technical assistant with 24h phone availability.
Carrying out the commands of the owner, base manager
Managing team of technicians and boat boys on the pontoon. Assigning tasks (organizing working day) for subordinate employees and checking the progress and quality of the work done
All technical aspects of taking responsibility of the boats and all equipment installed belonging to boats
Maintaining yachts in constant technical readiness to work
Doing check in and check out with clients before and after charter. Accurate settlement of customers from shortages and damage caused on the yacht during the charter. Taking responsibility for checked equipment, before and after the charter
Skippering, moving the boats if necessary,
Making sure that there are no unattended items on the pier and other places, especially things like garden hose, cables and plugs, kayaks, spare parts, tools, etc ... All must be storage in office or container
In cooperation with base manager looking after and taking care of the spare parts stock level and whole warehouse/container condition
Accounting for all things that come in and out of office or containers. This applies to materials used in person and used by subordinate employees
Organizing, shopping and collecting spare parts from local suppliers
Organizing and taking care for all entrusted tools and garage.
In addition to the above points, the employee is obliged to follow the guidelines of the management and in particular to follow the procedure to be followed for each task. The procedures will be passed in the form of a paper document with thorough instructions of the action. The employee is obliged to mark it on the document after each completed point and deliver it to the office signed at the end of the day.
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of proven experience on similar position, especially connected with managing people and building good team work.
Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a boat engineer.
Experience in managing people in the group up to 10 subordinate employees
Very good knowledge of mechanical, electric and hydraulic / sanitary yacht installations.
Very good knowledge of the construction of stationary - yacht diesel engines (Volvo Penta, Yanmar) with angle transmissions (S-drive)and V gearboxes.
Very good knowledge of Mercury / Yamaha outboard engine construction and the ability to make accurate diagnosis
The ability to diagnose faults in electrical installations as well as planning and performing basic repairs in these installations.
Ability to read technical drawings.
Ability to diagnose problems in the operation of electric motors driving anchor winches, capstans, pumps, etc.
Experience and knowledge in the field of boatbuilding and hull maintenance. Among others laminating, matching colours to existing coatings, polishing.
Experience and practical knowledge in the field of rigging and trimming systems for sails as well as maintenance of electric and manual capstans will be an advantage
Sailing experience and patents enabling independent sailing yachts with auxiliary propulsion on coastal waters will be an additional, strong asset.
