Tulaabingwas
will play a vital role in our business. They will be responsible for acquiring farmers as customers, assessing their creditworthiness, taking input orders, ensuring on-time repayment of credit, and coordinating farmer harvests with the market linkage team. We are looking for people who have an in-depth understanding of the community they live in, can balance the drive to sell with the importance of careful risk assessment, care equally about profit and social impact, and are excited to join an early stage, fast growing start-up.
About You
Fluent in English, Swahili and local language of assigned region
Comfortable with mobile applications on a smartphone or tablet
Competent in basic mathematics
Respected local resident with strong connections to the community
At least two years of experience as a sales agent or a loan officer in rural markets targeting smallholder farmers in Kenya strongly preferred

Responsibilities
Generate demand for inputs on credit among target farmers through multiple channels, including but not limited to barazas, agricultural shows, farmer field days, etc.
Take orders and collect the initial KYC (‘know your customer’) data
Advise farmers on correct inputs to use and provide basic agronomy support
Monitor loan repayment according to Tulaa’s credit policies and procedures
Manage collections through calls to farmers, farm visits, meetings with Chiefs, etc.
Ensure timely repayment of all loans in your portfolio
Prepare harvest calendar for your farmers; Ensure produce for harvest meets minimum quality standards set by Tulaa; Negotiate trade terms with farmer; Submit harvest details to Market Linkage team; Coordinate harvest
Proactively help customers by answering questions and responding to requests
Achieve or exceed all targets for sales of inputs on credit, loan portfolio quality, sale of produce on the platform, and customer satisfaction as communicated by the Area Manager in charge
Be Tulaa’s ear on the ground by systematically collecting customer feedback through qualitative and quantitative methods on inputs provided, farm-level results, customer satisfaction, and demand for new products and services. All concerns raised by farmers should be communicated to the Area Manager in charge in a professional and timely manner.
Maintain trust with the customer by keeping loan information confidential and treating the customer with respect
Ensure compliance with all company policies/procedures as well as the laws of Kenya
Ensure that at least one of the following channels of communication is open at all times; WhatsApp, email, phone call, or SMS
