The Vendor Relations Manager will help hunt down in-demand retailers, ranging from supermarkets to bakeries, pharmacies, and local consumer brands. You will seek to understand their business and use your impressive negotiation skills to convince them they need to join us in our mission to transform the way consumers access local goods. In this role, you will be a key representative of the Sendy Go team, responsible for creating a pipeline and signing up local stores and vendors around the city to sell through the Sendy Go marketplace.
Reporting to the VP of Sendy Go, you will be an integral member of an agile and entrepreneurial team, delivering on a project with impact and scale, in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. You will build strong relationships with peers across Sendy’s teams ranging from Data & Growth to Product & Engineering, CX, and beyond.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field.
Minimum five years’ experience in relationship management, sales or business development roles.
Experience working in startups a plus
Proven business development or selling skills.
Ability to win deals.
Strong understanding of the logistics/on-demand grocery delivery industry.
Proven record of accomplishment of building long-lasting client relationships
Client service orientation - fast follow-ups, general sense of urgency
A solid understanding of the on-demand grocery/retail environment
Familiarity with CRM tools (Hubspot, Salesforce, etc)
Full professional level in Swahili and fluency in English
Ability to persuade even the toughest of prospects with no fear of rejection
Experience presenting to potential and current clients
Methodological fast learner with curiosity and willingness to test new ideas
Experience in a fast-moving sales environment and confidence pitching
Willingness to take ownership and work within demanding targets
High attention to detail with strong execution skills
Phone-based sales experience
Responsibilities
Own prospecting, pitching, and closing of new vendors
Control over your pipeline & management of your portfolio of leads to ensure strong conversion/retention
Create and iterate sales processes to meet ambitious targets for cold calls, emails and customer visits
Assist the wider Sendy Go commercial team with ad-hoc strategic initiatives like field pitch days, marketing roll-outs, and cross-functional projects
Follow up and facilitate client issue resolution to ensure timely closure of client issues.
Build long term partnerships and ensuring a fast and smooth onboarding
Deliver on sales and net margin targets
Develop and maintain relationships with key accounts
Develop sales collateral, case studies, and custom ‘stories’ to translate benefits of Sendy Go’s platform to prospects
Follow up and ensure prompt payments for services offered to clients to ensure timely debt collection.
