Charge Nurse (Renal Centre)

An upcoming high-end private hospital in the leafy suburbs of Nairobi, is looking to recruit aCharge Nursefor theirRenal Centreto plan, organize, implement, and evaluate patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, delegating, directing nursing care for patients and overseeing the daily functions of the dialysis staff. The ideal candidateMUSThave at least 4 years’ nursing and supervisory experience in a Renal Centre.
Qualifications:
Registration in Nursing Diploma.

Minimum of 4 years’ experience working as a dialysis nurse.

Current BLS Certification.

Current ACLS Certification.

Ability to enact policies and procedures.

A comprehensive understanding of the nursing processes.

Supervision and managerial skills.

Analysis and planning skills.

Leadership and organizing skills.

Demonstrated ability to transmit knowledge, skills through patient education.

The ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

Oversee preparation of the delivery system and dialyzer.

Confirm all mandatory alar tests on the dialyzer equipment are performed.

Review physician orders for dialysis patients.

Collects pre-treatment dialysis data, and reviews patient records prior to dialysis.

Verifies that patients are taking all prescribed medications and performs medication reconciliation.

Documents findings of patient assessment and interventions and advise providers of any significant change.

Oversee dialysis technicians in the performance of dialysis from start to finish.

Monitor patient reaction to treatment and performance of the dialysis machines.

Oversee disassembly and disinfection of dialysis equipment.

Demonstrate a working knowledge of dialysis laboratory tests and dialysis medications.

Provides leadership in improving patient care.

Responsible for implementing and maintain the dialysis policy and procedure manual.

Required education
: Diploma, Associate's degree

Required relevant work experience
: 3 years
