Objectives for the InternshipConduct a comprehensive analysis of the climate change landscape to identify potential areas and opportunities for EAWLS to focus its efforts.Develop and execute a Climate Change Programme tailored to the objectives and mission of EAWLS.Strengthen EAWLS's resource mobilization efforts by integrating climate change initiatives into its fundraising strategies.Mainstream climate change considerations across all facets of EAWLS's work to enhance its overall impact and effectivenessResponsibilities for the Intern RoleThe Intern will report directly to the Programs and Advocacy Manager while maintaining close collaboration with Policy Officers and Programs Officers. Under the guidance of the supervisor, the intern will:Conduct in-depth research and analysis on climate change policies, initiatives, and emerging trends.Prepare comprehensive reports, briefs, and presentations synthesizing key insights derived from policy analysis.Assist in formulating strategic recommendations based on identified gaps in existing climate change policies.Support the planning, logistical arrangements, and execution of climate change-related conferences, workshops, and seminars.Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure coherence between climate change programs and organizational objectives.Aid in the monitoring and evaluation of the efficacy of implemented climate change initiatives and activities.Research and identify potential funding opportunities for climate change projects and initiatives.Collaborate with internal teams to develop funding proposals and concept notes, as well as participate in pitching efforts.Contribute to the development of budgets and work plans for various climate change initiatives within the organization.Which kind of Intern are we looking for?Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, or a related field. Masters in the aforementioned fields is an added advantage;The candidate should have no more than 5 years of paid conservation experience (excluding years spent pursuing an academic degree). Exceptions can be discussed on a case by case basis.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to conduct thorough research and effectively synthesize information;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and research tools;Demonstrated passion for environmental conservation and advocacy for climate change action;Previous experience in project management or event coordination is advantageous;Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, possessing strong organizational abilities and attention to detail;Fluency in English;Previous involvement in climate change discussions at national or international levels is desirable.
