Our client seeks to hire an experienced Communications & Advocacy Director who will be responsible leading teams, diversify strategies and provide strategic advice to diverse audiences.
Location: Nairobi

They Seek to hire an experienced Communications & Advocacy Director who will be responsible leading teams, diversify strategies and provide strategic advice to diverse audiences.
Responsibilities
• Developing strategies for creating key messages, fact sheets, social media posts and creative digital materials.
• Identify strategic moments and engage champions to influence target stakeholders and amplify our clients’ goals
• Get partners, influencers, and decision-makers in the same place by overseeing high-level events, including identifying invitees and speakers, and developing agendas, thematic content, or presentations
• Lead the development and implementation of advocacy strategies in consultation with key stakeholders
• Build coalitions of support around issues with dedicated outreach, organization, and relationship management
• Follow trends in global health policies and funding opportunities to continuously innovate on strategy
• Conduct policy research and analysis; lead the development of policy briefs, landscaping and mapping reports, messaging frameworks, consultations and other outputs to influence policy change
• Engage with policymakers and stakeholders to promote and advance client goals through sharing evidence-based policy solutions
• Oversee all major deliverables by developing a vision and strategy, delegating work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Manage client relationships, ensuring the needs of the client are met, keeping executive management apprised of project development
• Develop relationships with international opinion leaders and journalists
• Understand background and nuance across priority issue areas to form compelling arguments and provide strategic counsel to clients
• Coach junior staff members on writing, client-facing interactions, and time management skills
• Member of the senior management team (SMT)
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing or equivalent required.
• 7-10 years of work experience, including that of managing small teams
• Experience managing and mentoring teams to achieve ambitious results
• Exceptional writing skills with an emphasis on persuasive writing
• Deep expertise in communications and media relations including pitching
• Experience managing budgets
• Public health and global development experience
• Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa
• International work experience; experience working across cultures and geographies
• Online campaign and digital strategy experience
• Experience in policy research and analysis, with a focus on evidence, understanding political and policy contexts, and finding solutions
• Experience with Adobe Suite of creative tools (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
• Proficiency in another language (French, Portuguese)
NB: Must have experience in media relations, communications and excellent writing skills
