This project is a Collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute and the University of Colorado. It involves conducting research for activities related to Malaria, HIV, EBV and other infectious diseases. The project has the following vacancy:

Position: Community Interviewer, KMR 11 (1 position) Reporting to: Study Coordinator Location: Kisumu

Job Description:
The Community Interviewer will report directly to the Study Coordinator and will be responsible for collecting timely and accurate data in their assigned households and health care facilities.

Essential Requirements:
O-level or Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education CITI Certificate in Human Subjects ProtectionOne (1) year working experience doing community work
Experience with both qualitative and quantitative data collections
Basic computer skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Kiswahili.

Desirable qualities:
Ability to speak and write in Luo language.
Flexible and willing to work extra hours including weekends and public holidays
Work under minimal supervision and be a team player.Must be honest, truthful and able to handle challenging situations in the field.

Specific Tasks and responsibilities:

Participant’s mobilization at both the community and healthcare facilities Consenting and recruiting eligible participants into the study. Conducting weekly follow ups Data entry and filing of source documents
Keep clean and comprehensive records of study visits and outcomes
Adhere strictly to the project deadlines for completion of duties assigned Any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor

Terms of Employment: One (1) year non-renewable contract.

Remuneration: Compensation is negotiable within a relevant grade, based on education levels, relevant experience and demonstrated competency. The salary scheme is based on the KEMRI scales.
