We are looking for a Novaneer with outstanding leadership in pastoral care to serve as the Dean of Students at our Tatu Primary School Campus. This is an opportunity to champion the growth and culture in our campus. This role is an internal advert and therefore only applicants who are part of our Tatu Primary and Athi River Primary community will be considered.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
You will be responsible for developing and leading our parent and student engagement initiatives alongside the Principal and our teaching teams. In addition, you will build relationships with staff and parents to facilitate academic and character development and behaviour management strategies in the schools. Moreover, you will work closely with data systems and develop pastoral excellence. This is an opportunity to help create a transformative school approach to parent and student engagement with the future of Africa’s youth at stake
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Be a culture champion for our Primary School by spearheading school culture events within the school's vision and annual theme Engage with the many stakeholders who make up Nova Pioneer community- parents, students and teachers by: a)Coordinating and planning parent events, fora, seminars, orientations and open days
b)Writing parent communication and serving as first point of contact on parent queries and concerns
c)Coordinating 1:1 and group parent meetings
d)Managing student behaviour by maintaining a school behaviour tracker, documenting incidents, following the school's code of conduct while working with parents and teachers
e)Coach teachers on managing student behaviour
f)Serve as point person for transport, Ops and other support teams on campus
Manage school events such as Sports Day, Baraza Council, Graduation, Swimming galas, Soccer tournaments and other school events. Manage clubs and field trips with the Associate Dean of Students Coach and manage the Student Affairs team that comprise the School Nurse, School Counselor and Associate Dean of Students
ABOUT YOU
You have a Bachelor’s Degree in education and are TSC certified You have at least 5 years experience in education You have held a leadership roles that include Grade Team Lead, Grade Head or Head of Department with proven success within a school setting within a school You have excellent inter-personal and leadership skills that encompass trust and respect You have excellent communication and people management skills You have strong project management and technical skills You have an ability to be flexible, adaptable, innovative and creative You understand the complexities of working in a multi-faceted organization You have a passion for students You have an exceptional ability to think strategically—and are unusually detail-oriented and conscientious.
