UN Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UNEP’s mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP Africa Office’s Communication and Outreach Unit communicates UN Environment's core messages to all stakeholders and partners, raising environmental awareness and enhancing the profile of UNEP in Africa.
Under the Supervision of the Head of Communication and Outreach unit, the Consultant will provide technical and operational support and will play a critical role in the implementation of UN Environment Programme related activities.
Editor:
- Ensuring that the phraseology, the terminology and, where appropriate, the translation are correct and that the style is appropriate to the audience.
- Editing for continuity, logic, completeness, relevance of material, readability, clarity of expression and consistency, as well as spelling, punctuation and grammar.
- Verifying the accuracy of facts, figures and references through research and consultation.
- Identifying unclear or ambiguous statements and proposing amendments for consideration

- Proofreading, editing and improving stories and other communication material.
- Analysing data and analytics, and seeking to increase reader engagement and retention.
