? At least 7 years of relatable professional experience
? Advanced degree in law, international relations, public policy, finance, or management
? Holds extensive grant-writing experience and has experience researching and securing gifts from individuals; access to high net worth databases and subscriptions to capacity research tools is a plus
? Extensive knowledge of, and connections in, Africa-focused philanthropic community
? Sustained management experience
? Fluency in budgeting, financial reporting, and financial management
? Charitable or NGO experience strongly preferred
? Pan-African work experience
? Passion for Emerging Public Leaders mission
? Willingness to develop skills in areas outside of core competence
? Excellent writing and presentation abilities
? Fluency in English mandatory; additional language proficiency highly preferred
? Proven experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships
Responsibilities
Key duties and responsibilities
As a Senior Strategy & Operations Manager, you will work closely with the Executive Director and the Program Manager in two key areas: Strategy and Resource Mobilization.
? Strategic Planning & Development
? Build upon EPL’s existing organizational strategic plan to ensure successful expansion and replication of country programs
? Advise the Board and Executive Director on organizational structure and performance management
? Create, expand, support partnerships in new markets, establish working relationships with political and community leaders
? Interface with global leaders in government, philanthropy, and advocacy to advance the organizations mission
? Oversee the regular evaluation of country programs, to communicate and measure success and challenges
? Meet regularly with the Board Chair, Executive Director, and Country teams to advance the aligned and effective management of the organization
? Assume day-to-day management responsibility of staff and facilities when the Executive Director is traveling
? Meet regularly with the Board Chair, Executive Director, and Country teams to advance the aligned and effective management of the organization
? Resource Mobilization/Fundraising
? Identify, initiate introductions, and build working relationships with funding partners across Africa, the United States, and Europe
? Work with the Executive Director and the Board to develop a targeted, achievable fundraising plan
? Develop materials that help foster engagement with key and prospective foundations, corporations, and individual donors to secure funding
? Develop outgoing grant proposals, including conducting extensive research, and analysis for political and country context, strategy, work plan of project activities, budget creation, and evaluation of the success of the proposal
? Assist with refining EPL’s donor management and engagement policies and procedures across countries
? Oversee grants management in tandem with Program Manager + country teams
? Build a target list of top foundation and corporate prospects across countries
