Geospatial Data Scientist

Summit Recruitment and Search Africa is a leading Recruitment and Executive Search agency head quartered in Kenya providing outstanding talent to a wide range of companies and NGOs in various business sectors across Africa.Our client, a leading agricultural technology company based in Limuru, is seeking a skilled and motivated to drive the development and automation of GIS activities. They will contribute to the development of geospatial models, data visualization, and drive the company's roadmap in leveraging spatial data for agricultural solutions.Key Responsibilities Manage GIS data and geo-databases, including downloading, verifying, and processing geo-data layers for calibration and mapping projects.Develop and enhance Python and R scripts to automate GIS tasks and remove licensing barriers.Conduct geospatial modeling and data visualization using Python, R, and other tools to create maps and analyze spatial data.Collaborate on GitHub to develop and refine scripts for interpolation techniques and automation.Drive the development of the company's geospatial strategy by proposing technical solutions aligned with strategic goals.Contribute to the broader goals of the Data Science team and Crop Nutrition Laboratory Services. Qualifications: Bachelor or Master's degree in GIS, data science, Agronomy, or related field.3-5 years of experience in GIS, mapping/geo-statistics using arcgis/qgis/python/R, preferably in agriculture.Experience with collaborative code development on GitHub and practical experience with geo databases.Knowledge of remote sensing applications and agronomy domain knowledge.Strong problem-solving, time management, and presentation skills.
