Brief DescriptionThis position provides organizational leadership and is responsible for overseeing the activities of the data science department in ensuring execution of and alignment with the Kenya Airways' overall vision. It ensures creation of data science capabilities for the success of Kenya Airways business operations by envisioning and executing strategies that will influence improvement of business performance by enabling decision making. Launches innovative and complex analytic models, utilizing data mining techniques, applied to both structured and unstructured data.Detailed DescriptionLeading innovation within the business by defining how the business creates additional value through utilization of data assets and analytics.Identify and monitor key business risks and realize the data needs of the business.Manage the business's external data and analytics partners.Develop and design of the departmental vision, capabilities, infrastructure, and roadmap for the launch of data sciences capabilities.Build the business's data science talent needs, role definition, recruitment, and development of a team to move business agenda forward.Improving the business's data analysis model, creating industry-leading performance by leveraging new and creative data-sources, and employing the latest in machine learning in the department.Develop roadmap for the data and analytics function that clearly defines ownership and responsibility between the central data function and the functional groups.Collaborate with all functions of the company to ensure data needs are addressed and the required data is modeled and available to analysts and end-users. Work with the product, operations, and executive management teams to create a data enabled user journey.Ensure centralization of Airline's cloud and on-premises data into a single data lake and modeled to support data analysis requirements from all functional groupsDevelop data models to track the business's performance againstdata analysis model and monitor trends in key business KPIs.Job RequirementsBachelor's degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related fields.Proficiency and experience in scripting languages with rapid prototyping skills in SQL, Python, Perl, Java, VB, etc.Highly skilled in statistical and modeling packages such as SAS, Statistical, MATLAB, R, visualization, and other advanced analysis tools.At least 10 years of working experience in a senior data science position.Additional DetailsA proven and successful experience track record of leadinghigh-performing data analyst teams leading through the successful performance of advanced quantitative analyses and statistical modeling that positively impact business performance.
