Position SummaryReporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Hospital Engineer is responsible for ensuring continuous service and repairs of plant equipment to attain optimal availability and performance. Proper functioning, safety, and smooth operations of all facilities and repairs are carried out properly and to the required maintenance standards amongst the following other responsibilitiesMain DutiesProvide leadership and guidance to all staff in the Maintenance DepartmentCarrying out preventive maintenance and repairs to steam boilers, generating sets, air compressors, lifts, steam systems, and air condition systemsCarrying out preventive maintenance in electrical distribution systems and plant equipmentEnsuring all mechanical and electrical operations within the Hospital run optimallyDeveloping and implementing planned preventive maintenance programsEnsuring regular inspection of plant equipmentMonitoring utility supplies and ensuring uninterrupted provision to the HospitalDeveloping a Bill of Quantities for works and services required in the HospitalParticipating in re-call to work service and attending to emergency breakdownsParticipating in refurbishment committees and overseeing completion of the projectsWork scheduling and execution for staff and selfSupervising of staffTechnical cost containmentLiaising with external contractors working in the HospitalSupervising, handling, and in charge of any works relating to: –– Refrigeration and air conditioning– Water supply and reticulation systems– Laundry equipment– Catering equipment– Fire equipmentAny other duty as may be assigned from time to timeRequired Qualifications for the PositionBachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Production/ Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institutionMinimum 12 years' experience, 5 heading maintenance functions in a busy hospitality industryProven track record in: Energy management, Maintenance management, and Operational costs control
