Details of the offer

Job Purpose:
To contribute to the delivery of Family for Every Child’s (Family’s) Membership Development Plan by growing the Alliance, supporting all aspects of the member journey; and strengthening and facilitating members’ engagement and learning. This role is a maternity cover and the post holder will need to work closely with the existing Member Engagement Manager who will retain oversight and responsibility of the strategic elements of this work. In the absence of the existing Member Engagement Manager, the post holder should consult the Director of Alliance Programme.
Education, qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential
? Educated to UK Degree level (international Level 6) or equivalent qualification ideally in international development, social work, psychology, sociology, childhood, gender studies or a related subject
? A strong understanding of the international development sector, and knowledge of key issues in child protection and child care, in different regions
? Understanding of the role and potential of networks and coalitions, including the work and strengths of national CSOs and INGOs, practitioners and policy makers, to bring about social transformation through learning exchange
? Knowledge of research methods and online learning and consultation tools
? Experience of managing multiple processes and diverse workstreams
? Understanding of due diligence and audit processes
? Project management experience: preparing and updating work plans, developing, monitoring and revising project budgets, reporting to management and donor(s)
? Experience of inputting into monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) processes and systems
? People management experience, specifically supporting and coaching team members to effectively deliver their responsibilities and managing a remote team including staff and consultants
Desirable
? Relevant postgraduate qualification
? Experience of helping facilitate participation within a member-led network or alliance, preferably of CSOs
? Strong knowledge of global care and protection issues and emerging trends and knowledge in regards to these areas
? Experience managing communities of practices
? Experience of developing and implementing digital engagement strategies
? Experience of working within a network organisation
? Experience of working with Google Apps
? Experience of working remotely and of working as part of an international team
Responsibilities

Management of the member journey
? Managing the scoping process in line with the scoping procedures, from in-country research, planning scoping trips and writing scoping reports
? Engaging and managing consultants and interpreters as needed
? Managing other aspects of the member journey through orientation, transition to full membership and the five year review
? Managing and supporting knowledge management and practice exchange
? Management of the member strengths and member participation tracking
? Development and engagement of wider network
? Preparing reports and attending quarterly Membership Committee meetings
Members’ due diligence and safeguarding
? Overseeing the approach to members’ due diligence and safeguarding
? Ensuring high standards are maintained throughout the Alliance
? Developing and improving practice in line with international standards
? Flagging areas of risk via the relevant working group and line management
? Contributing to wider due diligence approaches and audits with members
Support for external communications
? Supporting Alliance Programme Team colleagues in encouraging members to capitalise on opportunities to promote Family
Operational and financial management
? Providing relevant input to financial and operational management (e.g. estimating costs, duration or resource requirements of certain activities, when planning)
? Contributing to the rolling budget process, ensuring that actual spend and re-forecasted expenditure is accurately reported
? Support the Director of Alliance Programme in reporting to the Membership Committee (including compiling relevant reports).
? Preparing financial reports for donors (together with members and consultants / partners, as applicable), working closely with relevant colleagues
? Developing project budgets in line with project concepts, in consultation with members (and consultants / partners, as applicable)
? Selecting and managing consultants as required
Management of the knowledge management portfolio
? Overseeing thematic planning for the knowledge management portfolio
? Overseeing and reviewing development and dissemination of knowledge management products
Management of the Community Platform - Changemakers for Children
? Overseeing development and usage of the Platform
? Engaging members and external audiences through the Platform
? Inputting into marketing initiatives and activities for the Platform
Management of wider member engagement activities
? Overseeing member engagement and communication initiatives and activities with the aim to develop the wider network, learning and sharing forums and to create space for relevant events
People management
? Managing the Member Engagement team to ensure they fulfil their roles to the best of their ability and in accordance with Family’s policies and procedures; managing their performance, learning and development
