Job Purpose:Reporting to the In-charge Laboratory, the Laboratory Technologists main responsibility is to provide information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments and analysis.Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesTo implement the Quality Management SystemEnsures that samples are registered in the Laboratory information system before processingTo perform daily Internal Quality controls and ensure they pass before analyzing patient samples.Performs root cause analysis on Quality control failuresPerform planned maintenances on equipmentPerforms inventory control as and when assigned by the head of sectionsTo analyze patient samples in accordance with documented technical proceduresTo report patient results in the Laboratory information systemTo verify patient results in Laboratory information system before they are released to cliniciansTo maintain confidentiality of patents information by not divulging passwords to anyone and not giving unauthorized people access to the laboratoryTo assist the safety officer to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and patientsQualifications & SkillsDiploma in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institutionRegistered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologist Board (KMLTTB)Must have a valid Practicing LicenseAbility to perform in all areas of the laboratory including, but not limited, microbiology, hematology, parasitology, blood transfusion and biochemistryAbility to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, medical staff, management and peersEssential Personal AttributesAbility to work under pressureHigh standards of personal integrityAbility to work under minimum supervision
