IRC leads the way from harm to home.BackgroundAcross two refugee camps, Dadaaband Kakuma, and four counties (Garissa, Turkana, West Pokot and Nairobi), theIRC implements programs in the sectors of health, Nutrition, governance &rights, and women's protection & empowerment, Economic Recovery andDevelopment, as well as providing emergency response through a network of fourfield offices and a range of institutional and community-based partnerships.Job Purpose/ObjectiveThe IRC is recruiting aNutritionist to be part of the MoH Team to implement the CMAM Approach. TheCMAM approach aims to reach the maximum number of children with acutemalnutrition and to ensure quality, access, and coverage by allowing mostchildren to be treated at many decentralized outpatient care sites.Whilst the CMAM approach consistsof four main components: community outreach, outpatient care for the managementof SAM without medical complications, inpatient care for the management of SAMwith medical complications, and programmes for the management of moderate acutemalnutrition (MAM), such as a supplementary feeding programme (SFP). The IRCproposes to implement the CMAM approach in one sub county in West Pokot whileworking through the MOH system.Working under the guidance andsupervision of the Nutrition Manager, the Nutritionist will be directlyresponsible for the day-to-day coordination and project oversight with the MOHin all identified implementation sites within West Pokot.Key Responsibilities:Coordination and implementation ofthe CMAM Model and working with the nutrition manager and Sub County NutritionCoordinator to ensure that the CMAM program is running smoothly.In liaison with the supply chaindepartment, plan and procure nutrition program supplies & services inaccordance to the developed Procurement plans in Integra.Together with the county teamsCoordinate the day-to-day implementation of CMAM, family MUAC screening athousehold levels through community health workers.Capacity build MoH staff onSimplified approaches, CMAM Model, Family MUAC and any Community based interventionin line with the MoH and WHO standards.Support Joint reviews of CMAM datawith the S/CHMT on a Monthly basis.Document findings and share withthe Nutrition Manager on a timely basis.Participate in coordinationmeetings at the County and sub-county level with the MOH and Partners includingNTWG, CNTF and any other Nutrition Forums.Support development of S/Countywork plans with the S/CHMTs and schedule joint supervisions to enhance qualityprogramming.Ensure the expenditure is asstipulated in the budget lines and strict adherence to the budget limits.Provide technical oversight to theCounty on comprehensive maternal infant and young child nutrition program(MIYCN) Baby Friendly Community initiative (BFCI),Family MUAC approaches.Compile and submit donor and IRCNutrition Program weekly, biweekly, and monthly reports of all the activitiesimplemented,Attend & represent theNutrition program in MOH meetings, CNTFs, Surveys and DQAs.Any other duties as assigned bythe supervisor.QualificationsDiploma in Food, Nutrition andDietetics from a recognized University.Must be a registered nutrition ordietitian KNDI.Required Experience & CompetenciesMinimum 3 years' work experiencein emergency community nutrition and implementation.Experience in maternal infant andyoung nutrition with strong CMAM, BFHI & BFCI approaches.Experience in nutrition survey andassessments.Good communication andinterpersonal skills.Strong report writing and teamworking skills.Knowledge in computer packages andbasic analysis skills.Ability to work in hardship areas.(previous experience in a camp setting will be an added advantage)Flexible and positive personality.Strong planning and implementationcapacity.Confident and capable negotiator,communicator, and networker.Standards of ProfessionalConduct: The IRC and IRC workers must adhere to the values and principlesoutlined in IRC Way - Standards for Professional Conduct.
