Job Description/Responsibilities:
• Create pastries, baked goods, and confections, by developing and following a set recipe to assure consistently high quality, with minimal food costs
• Operating and managing the pastry section of the kitchen and liaising with the Head Chef to ensure a successful working environment
• Monitoring the stock of baking ingredients, and ordering supplies and ingredients for the pastry section on a timely basis, and within budget
• Ensure all bakery products are presented tastefully and to the highest standards
• Establish controls to minimize food and supply waste, at the same time avoiding product stockouts
• Ensure high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety at all times
• Prepare ingredients in a timely fashion, and handle baking and related kitchen equipment
• Develop new recipes for seasonal menus
• Meet clients to discuss details and planning of custom-made desserts and pastries for special occasions
• Supervise and train staff members for maximum productivity and high standards of quality control
Job Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or at a similar position
• Creative ability with artistic skill in decorating desserts
• Knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, and nutrition
• Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings, when necessary
• Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment
• Diploma or certificate in culinary arts, pastry making, or baking preferred
