CURE has an exceptional opportunity for a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon/Fellowship Program Director at its hospital in Kenya. This position represents a unique opportunity for a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon who wants to be involved in caring for disabled children, and playing a vital role in improving the quality of health in a community. The Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon will be responsible for providing hands-on surgical care to our patients, which adheres to the quality standards of CURE. Moreover, an important function of the Fellowship Program Director is a commitment to high quality training of others.
Responsibilities

With the other surgical faculty, oversee aspects of the pediatric orthopedic services striving to make them comprehensive, continuous, coordinated, evidence based, and personal.

By direct observation or delegation of the same to another faculty member, oversee all care, inpatient and outpatient, offered by the fellows by reviewing medical records, seeing patients with the fellows, and teaching in clinical and didactic sessions.

With the Medical Director or other faculty, help develop protocols and procedures to ensure good communication and referral practices for patients among the various participating hospitals in the country and within CURE International.

Instruct resident orthopedic surgeons in orthopedic procedures.

Accurately and thoroughly chart pertinent patient information.

Ensure the safety of patients during consultations, surgical interventions and in the postoperative environment.

Maintain fellows' files including their logbooks and evaluations.

With other attending faculty, develop and implement a mentorship program for all fellows.

Work with the senior management team to facilitate participation of fellows in hospital quality control processes including morbidity and mortality review, infection prevention, pharmacy, and lab committees.

Assist in the development of an evidence-based treatment protocol manual for the management of common acute and chronic pediatric orthopedic illnesses.

Required education
: Bachelor's degree

Required relevant work experience
: 2 years

Required languages:
English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
