St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church was established in Kangemi (Nairobi) in 1985 by the Jesuits of the East African Province.
The Saint Joseph the Worker Development Office was created for the purpose of managing and coordinating the various development projects that Jesuits implement in Kangemi. These projects seek to promote a society free from all forms of discrimination, in which everyone have the opportunity to develop their full potential. Over the years, the Development Office has striven to accompany the empowerment processes of the most vulnerable and impoverished persons and communities, survivors of Gender Based Violence, People Living with HIV/AIDs within Kangemi location.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a responsible Programme Coordinator to administer and organize multiple projects as per St. Joseph Development Programme policies. The Programme Coordinator will report directly to the Programme Manager. The responsibilities include working closely with our 2 Project officers (Positive Action Children Fund-SGBV Project & Manos Unidas-Livelihood project) to prepare comprehensive action plans, including resources, timeframes and budgets for projects.
He/she will perform various coordinating tasks, like schedule and risk management, along with administrative duties, like maintaining project documentation and handling financial queries. To succeed in this role, one should have excellent Programme management, Monitoring and Evaluation and communication skills as well as experience in working with persons living in urban informal settlements.
PROGRAMME CO-ORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Programme Management
Coordinate day-to-day programme management activities, resources and information to ensure ownership of the projects by project officers and staff.
Support project officers to implement project activities effectively, in line with donor contracts, work plans and budgets, coordinating implementation of all project activities
Closely monitor implementation of project activities, including financial expenditures; identify problems in project implementation and report to Programme Manager and Director at the earliest possible moment
Liaise with members of the finance team to ensure that all financial reports are reviewed and signed off in a timely manner.
Breakdown projects into doable actions and set timeframes liaising with project officers to identify and define requirements, scope and objectives.
Undertake Reviews of all Program Requisitions regarding project expenditure
Participate and Provide guidance regarding the enrolment of new clients targeted by the projects.
Help prepare project budgets and support in tracking budget utilization
Networking, advocacy and communications:
Act as the point of contact and communicate project status to the programme beneficiaries, staff and director
Ensure timely management of multiple lines of communication between Project officers, beneficiaries, staff, management and relaying pertinent information to appropriate parties
Represent Uzima Programme in relevant assessments, forums and networks
Maintain relationships with donor agencies, partners and community groups
Promote and strengthen partnership with local government
Provide material for SJDPs Communications, Campaigns and Fundraising as required.
Organizational Policies
Guiding team members on the policies, practices and safeguards to be adhered to when dealing with children and adolescents in the course of gathering information on women empowerment and the giving of informed consent in such cases
Co-ordinate project planning, development and participate proposal development.
Programme Evaluation and Development:
On-going analysis of issues relating to GBV, HIV and women’s rights in, Nairobi County, Kenya and global developments within the field.
Provide technical inputs required by the MEAL Coordinator in designing tools to monitor project implementation, processing and delivery
Receive, reviewing of all field reports and create comprehensive donor reports
Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise
Ensure standards and quality requirements are met through constant improvement in project interventions and support Quality Improvement Plans
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports
Completion of the Annual Programme Review process, incorporating clear evidence of progress and challenges and adhering to internal and external reporting requirements.
Ensuring that learning from the evaluation process is explicitly incorporated into future project implementation.
Required Qualifications / Abilities
At least 3 years of documented Programme management experience
University Degree, preferably degree in Sociology, Social Work, Community Development, Project Management or other relevant social sciences.
Hands on Experience in Gender and HIV programming
Ability to interact effectively
Ability to work within strict deadlines.
Be of high moral standing and personal integrity.
Demonstrated team player with effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
Strong people and performance management skills and experience.
Excellent problem-solving, technical, managerial, and financial analysis skills and a focus on producing efficient, reliable, and cost-effective data solutions as an individual or as part of a team.
Ability to multi-task.
Excellent knowledge of relevant MS Office packages necessary for day-to-day work.
Strong oral and written communication skills in English, including evidence of quality report writing and presentations.
