Details of the offer

A priority area of GIZ Kenya is “Sustainable Economic Development”, which is divided into clusters. Various bilateral, regional and global projects belong to the priority area. One of the clusters in the regional program “Employment for Sustainable Development in Africa” (E4D). The E4D Programme develops and implements public-private cooperation projects that contribute to sustainable employment in 7 focal countries in the Sub-Saharan Africa. Through cooperation with business and public sector partners, the objective of E4D is to promote employment, raise incomes and improve working conditions.
The specific objective of the GIZ engagement will be focused on strengthening inclusive and sustainable blue economy value chains through TVET, SME and value chain development (especially in the sectors aquaculture and artisanal fisheries, sustainable tourism, logistics and transport, etc.)
GIZ will be implementing objective 1: “Strengthened inclusive and sustainable blue economy value chains through skills and development and matching, and value chain development through:
1.Providing SME development including integrating entrepreneurial skills in the training context, supporting value chain development as well as establishing innovation labs for SME support integrated in the partner Centres of Excellence (CFOs).
2.Supporting aquaculture value chain development. It will address the key constraints, and thus, contribute to develop competitive, gender equitable and sustainable commercial aquaculture in order to contribute to sustainable economic coastal development. Activities will include boosting fish production through trainings on fish farming & aquaponics (technical skills), providing Business
Development Services, Knowledge enhancement, capacity development and training trainers.3.Providing skills development programs to equip youth and women with relevant technical and vocational skills demanded by the industry in four selected blue economy value chains.
Responsibilities

A.Summary of responsibilities
The Project Manager will be responsible in supporting the EU-Blue Economy project in achieving its objectives and indicators. Based in Mombasa, the Project Manager is engaged in the following tasks and duties:

·Assisting and supporting in the management of the EU-GIZ Blue Economy project measures in the field ( regional coordination in the target region coastal Kenya).
·Cooperate with the monitoring and evaluation, project and finance teams to provide on-time, high quality reporting
·Support of technical advisor responsible for value chain development
·Support in establishing and maintaining productive working relationship with implementing partners and consortium partners, partner VTCs, targeted communities and authorities at all levels.
·Support the component lead in collaboration with the governmental stakeholders and partners, including being the GIZ focal point/counterpart for the JKP secretariat in Mombasa.
·Support the technical steering structure of the EU-GIZ project in the field.
B. Qualifications/ requirements
Qualifications
·Bachelors Degree in business, international development, or other related field required (Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of working experience or a Masters Degree with at least 2 years work experience),

Professional Experience
·At least 3 years work experience in development cooperation and in the area of TVET and/or youth employment promotion.
·Very good in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
·Experience in working with the private sector, international NGO’s, local and national governments.
·Proven skills and experience in networking and knowledge exchange platforms.
·Excellent communication skills in English, Swahili and preferably one or more of the languages spoken in the coastal counties.
·Good coordination competencies and ability to multitask
·Understanding of the cultural context at the coast is an advantage
·Willingness to travel
·Team player
·Eager to learn
