Quality Assurance Officer - Nakuru

Applicants are invited to fill in the position of a Quality Assurance Officer to be based at Unga Farm Care Limited - Mineral Plant, Nakuru.
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Quality Assurance Officer will be responsible for Total Quality Management of products and processes from inbound to outbound.
Responsibilities

Ensuring that quality specifications of incoming raw materials & packaging materials and finished products are adhered to by spot checking and reviewing quality records across the site.

Implementing Food Safety Management System (ISO 22000) requirements at the site and ensuring continuous compliance through trainings, updating documentation, carrying out internal audits, following up on gap closure and facilitating food safety team meetings.

Supervision and continuous training of QAAs on quality tests carried out in-process to ensure laid down work procedures are followed and accurate results provided

Driving root cause analysis initiatives on product/process non-conformities and customer complaints, and following up to ensure corrective actions are implemented

Upholding Good Manufacturing Practices through implementation of the laid down prerequisite programmes/ procedures, routine trainings, daily monitoring & feed safety audits.

Prepare and adhere to quality schedules on external microbial analysis, personnel and equipment swabbing, measuring devices calibrations, pest control, plant fumigation (where applicable), mock withdrawals etc.

Collating and analyzing performance data and charts against defined parameters for continual improvement.

As the TQM Pillar head, facilitating all TQM activities at the site in liaison with the corporate pillar head as well as creating TQM awareness at the site to build a quality culture.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• University degree in either Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology or Food Science & Technology.

• Minimum 3 years supervisory working experience in a busy food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical manufacturer.

• Computer Literacy - Microsoft packages and ERP experience.

• Statistical Process Control knowledge will be an added advantage.

• Good command of English and Kiswahili

• Good Interpersonal, People Management and Coordination Skills.
