He/ She will work hand in hand with the Education Technical Lead to improve the operations and management of the education services offered by LWF in both camps.The incumbent will report to the Education Technical Lead or his/her designate and work closely with Education sector staff (including teachers) and other sector staff of LWF.Duties and responsibilities will include: Assessing teacher training needs:Identifying the training needs of target teachers in the refugee camps (Kakuma/Kalobeyei/Dadaab) and host community.Setting and administering pre and post-tests and using the results for follow-up and support to teachers receiving training under this project.Observing lessons and identifying teachers' strengths and weaknesses. Teacher training, mentorship and coaching Prepare training materials/ resources and deliver high-quality teacher training/ lessons and support to trainees as per the TeachWell / RTI curricular material.Provide guidance, advice, and individual training sessions for teachers.Engage curriculum support officers from the sub-county education offices in conducting classroom observation and teacher appraisal.Develop new strategies and plans for an improved learning experience, teacher wellness, and well-being for the teacher trainees (Including MHPSS).Collaborate with teachers to develop improved curricula, lesson plans, assessments, and classroom management techniques.Convene and supervise camp-based Teacher Learning Circles (TLCs).Building teacher networks among refugee and host community school teachers and encouraging teachers to share their resources and knowledge.Organizing workshops, training sessions, and events where guest speakers inspire teachers.Design and oversee the implementation of capacity development plans for teachers in schools in refugee camps. Program implementation and monitoring Convene quarterly planning sessions to set teacher selection criteria for the TPD Project (TOTs), and schedule an internal teacher training calendar.Design training modules for language and other areas identified through needs assessments.Plan and hold quarterly feedback review sessions with trained teachers to provide feedback to the TPD program / TeachWell project and set goals.Maintain and manage records and data of all teachers trained under this project, ensuring that these records are updated with human resources.Keeping abreast of developments in teaching and teacher training in Kenya.Continuously investigating gender imbalances in teacher training in the camp schools, designing and implementing initiatives to increase enrolment of female teachers on TPD.Communicate and interact regularly with the Education Sector staff and teachers, the School Management Committees, Refugee Education Committees, the Sub-County and County Education Office, and other development partners and agencies.Contribute to education plans, budgets, resource mobilization, and reviews aligned with organizational priorities.Prepare and submit high-quality reports on the TeachWell project. Qualifications and personal attributes Bachelor's Degree in Education.At least three years of progressive professional experience in teacher training, supervision, and/or management.Possess working knowledge and experience of humanitarian principles, laws, and standards – Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS), Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), Rights Based Approach (RBA), and Gender Age Marker.Experience dealing with sensitive socio-political situations and working and living under pressure in unstable security environments and with long and irregular working hours would be an added advantage.High level of integrity, commitment, and professional responsibility.Strong interpersonal and team-building skills with the ability to tolerate cultural, educational, and religious diversity in the workplace.Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills.
