Our vision is a sustainable and efficient food supply chain with fair value distribution from farm to market.
We are currently looking for an experienced and ambitious sourcing manager. This person will take the lead in building and optimizing our network of suppliers and solidify the process to optimally manage our supply chain from farmers to our warehouse in Nairobi. Your challenge will be to ensure year-round sourcing of quality produce at optimal pricing from smallholder farmers across Kenya.
About the role:
The role entails managing relationships with many stakeholders and constant learning, iteration and testing.
The ideal candidate will have:
1. Undergraduate degree in business or agriculture studies
2. 3-5 years’ experience in sourcing
3. 2-3 years’ work experience in an Agritech company preferably working in horticulture
4. Experience in procurement and logistics an added advantage
5. Expert in farmer mobilization, training and stakeholder management
6. Expert in data collection, report writing and communication.
7. Expert in using technology for data collection
8. Network of farmers is essential
9. Willingness to work in a start-up environment

Responsibilities
Strategic Execution
Develop sourcing strategy and ensure timely implementation of plans
Oversee and monitoring day-to-day running of the department
Identify innovative sourcing techniques to ensure consistent quality & price
Prepare monthly & weekly supply forecasts, including region of sourcing, farmer suppliers, and logistics to ensure consistent supply at the warehouse to meet Taimba’s sales targets
Develop and negotiate contracts for sourcing from reliable suppliers
Manage relationships with farmers and suppliers to ensure retention of high-quality providers
Ensure continuous growth of supplier network
Sourcing Activities
Data collection of agents, farmers and cooperatives to form a database of potential suppliers
Visit potential suppliers and conduct interviews, surveys & discussions to identify contractual agreements of supply
Ensure adherence to supply plan from identifying farmer, to logistics to transport produce to warehouse
Ensuring Taimba’s quality and safety standards are fully met at every sourcing
Managing payments towards suppliers/farmers
Be in charge of stock right from the farmer level to the point of distribution and assume responsibility for any loses that may happen
Organising proper & cost-effective transport of produce from farm to warehouse
Ensure vehicles and other assets are used for sole purpose of shipments and not misused
Present cost-benefit analysis reviews of sourcing experiments and ensure learnings are implemented to develop a strong sourcing department
