Job Description

The
Workshop Mechanic & Administratoris primarily
responsible for providing effective and efficient day to day running of the
Tradewinds Aviation Services workshop which includes staff management, asset management,
fleet oversight, inventory management (to include spare parts and tools), shift
pattern management (Tradewinds is a 24 hour service company) and full oversight
of all engineering matters affecting our equipment used for ground operations
whilst providing leadership, motivation and support to the respective team.

The Workshop Administrator, who reports to the Workshop Manager, will also establish
and maintain high standards of safety and asset security.

Key
Objectives and Responsibilities:
Provide efficient and effective day to day administration of the workshop
to include staff resource management, spare parts inventory management, to
ensure the workshop is running optimally
Monitor and report on GSE equipment breakdowns and seek urgent
solutions to reduce the number and repetitive repairs
Identify cost saving opportunities and reduce costs within the
workshop to include spare parts management
Set process standards and measures in the form of scorecards to
monitor all aspects of costs and workshop performance related to GSE Equipment,
Company vehicles, and Spare Parts
Advise the Executive Team on optimal inventory requirements as well
as the disposal of assets whether selling, scrapping and/or write offs
Develop workshop policies and procedures, complaint with OSHA
Guidelines and Standards, for ALL work processes in the workshop and yard to include
anti-theft measures, general housekeeping, asset security and staff
accountability
Ensure that laid down procedures provide for optimum housekeeping
practice by workshop staff to keep assets in original condition through
cleaning the equipment after use and through proper storage techniques
Working closely with the Workshop Manager ensure that other than GSE
Equipment, all other company assets (i.e. company vehicles) have set
maintenance and service schedules to ensure optimal operation of the asset
Ensure workshop provides detailed information to Procurement about
spares needed to ensure that all spares purchased meet manufacturer and company
specifications; ensure also that training is provided to the staff before ANY
equipment operation
Ensure the maintenance, servicing, and both road and airside worthiness
of all GSE equipment and vehicles, are attended to on time and within agreed
upon KPI’s and, where they are not, take immediate corrective measures
Create a workshop system, software or otherwise, to maintain and
manage ALL records of repairs undertaken and the system adopted should identify
duration since last repair, actual repair and dates in and out of the workshop;
this system, should clearly identify the technician so as to manage training
requirements if need be or part of a staff performance appraisal
Monitor, manage and ensure timely completion by workshop staff, of
ALL assigned tasks and put in place a quality assurance checklist that approves
the completed repair of the asset
Drive adherence to all SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) regarding
all workshop operations with special attention to those that relate to repairs
Establish and maintain a strong and professional working
relationship and an open communication channel with all other Departments such
as Operations, Training and Procurement
Ensure that ALL workshop and yard accidents, however small, are reported
using the laid down company and statutory procedures
Promote, within the workshop, a culture of responsibility for work
areas through attention to housekeeping, effective tools management, professionalism,
and yard cleanliness
Monitor work attendance (24 hours) and manage irregular incidences
and situations through Human Resources to take immediate corrective action
and/or disciplinary measures
Any other tasks as may be required by the Executive Team

Education,
Experience and Qualification:
Engineering and/or Technical Mechanic certifications is mandatory
Minimum 4 – 6 years technical experience in Transports; managing a
medium/large workshop preferably in a 24-hour aviation industry operation
Experience in work/shift scheduling and planning
Basic knowledge of MS Office software, particularly MS Excel
Excellent analytical skills
Display of high levels of responsibility and accountability
Great decision making and organizational skills
Due to the nature of the work, ensure compliance with Health,
Safety, Environmental, Security, as well as, adherence to all company policies
Communication skills, both in verbal and written form, are a
fundamental requirement for this position as well as good listening skills
