Job Summary
The
Study Coordinator will ensure smooth planning and coordination of a
prospective cohort study investigating maternal, pregnancy and neonatal
outcomes for women and neonates infected with SARS-CoV-2’ project
activities including budgets, defining work plans with deliverable goals
for all the project work packages in conjunction with PI, CO-PIs and
other relevant project team members. Proper coordination of the research
project will contribute to the pool of knowledge on how severe acute
respiratory-corona virus-2 {SARS-CoV-2) infection during pregnancy
impacts women and their neonates during pregnancy and post-partum
period. S/he will work within the Centre of Excellence for Women and
Child Health, East Africa and report to the Principal Investigator.
Responsibilities
Coordinate
the implementation of the study as per protocol in Aga Khan University
Hospital and Pumwani Maternity Hospital including patient’s enrolment,
data collection and blood sampling and laboratory activities.
Coordinate project components with other members of project team on behalf of the principal investigator (PI).
Ensure
proper data collection with support of co-principal investigators and
co-investigators, data management and analysis in collaboration with the
data team.
Write and disseminate monthly summary reports on project progress and progress in achieving project targets.
Participate
in the development and review of quarterly and annual project work
plans and budgets; and recommending new approaches for improving
project’s efficiency and effectiveness.
Review
and track progress on project implementation as well as on the
utilization of project resources in liaison with the project accountant
and the principal investigator.
Ensure timely sharing of budgetary information with the pi and co pi’s.
Conduct training needs assessment for the project team and other relevant site based staffs.
Budgetary allocation and implementation of identified training needs.
Maintain a database of the trainings conducted and the project team/site staffs trained.
Ensure
timely production of monthly, quarterly and annual internal and
external monitoring and evaluation reports based on agreed performance
indicators.
Requirements
Health education background (medical doctors or clinical officers are encouraged to apply).
Demonstrable training in research.
A Bachelor's Degree in Medicine and Surgery is mandatory, a Master’s degree will be an added advantage
Proven work experience as a project coordinator or similar role.
Research experience is desirable.
Hands on work experience with both private and public institutions.
Client-focus and team work skills
Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time management.
Excellent writing skills.
